In this lesson, students will read “Rooster’s off to see the World” in shared reading groups.
Then, as a class we will discuss similar and different ideas/concepts about journey’s from both “Oh the Places You’ll Go” and “Rooster’s Off To See the World.” Then, the teacher will introduce the concept of a
Venn Diagram. The class will review the components of a Venn Diagram and discuss where
they will write the similarities and differences between the two books. The students will then write their ideas on the
Venn Diagram in the correct areas. After everyone is completed they will come together as a
class and will have the opportunity to discuss and share their findings of the similarities and
differences between the journey’s in the two books.
