Assessment

The assessment tools we will use are the following:

Lesson #1: Anecdotal record will be one assessment tool because the teacher wants to know what places they are researching. Also, a checklist will be used to see whether or not the students completed the chart or not.

Lesson #2: Anecdotal record will be one assessment tool because the teacher is reading outloud and will make notes during class discussion. Next, the teacher will be using a Yes/No checklist for whether or not students complete an exit pass. The exit pass will be handing in their prediction. This will count towards the learning skill "initiative"

Lesson #3: Anecdotal record will be used while the teacher observes the students make their poems, and afterwards when the students are discussing their poems with their peers. A rubric will be used for the written portion of the poem to ensure that students complete the poem appropriately.

Lesson #4: Anecdotal record will be used during the creation of the Venn Diagrams because the teacher will be walking around the classroom. Then, the teacher will use a checklist during shared reading to assess how well they read in a group

Lesson #5: Anecdotal record will be used while students work on their reflection sheet. The teacher will note whether or not students are able to connect information from lesson #1 onto their sheet, and drawing and write about the places they want to go to. There will also be a rubric that marks the writing and marks the oral presentations. Were students able to write appropriately and orally present their reflection with vocal expression?

***********************************************************************************
In order to take differentiated instruction into account for our students, students are able to present their work in a variety of different ways in all 5 lessons. Students are able to show some work, visually and some orally, and are able to use technological tools for lesson #1 as well. Also, students engage in shared reading and reading aloud's which allows students with learning disabilities and "weaker readers" to still feel a sense of inclusion with the book "Oh The Places You'll Go"
